ZONES OF THE PACIFIC (Marc Fedak) The Sunlight Zo-o-one / from the sea surface to around 250 meters The shallow depths of the ocean deep The shallow depths of the ocean deep. The Twilight Zone / from 250 to 1000 meters Where the sun is blurry and pale And the twilight dream state from the lack of oxygen kicks in You’ve got the “bends”, got the “bends”. The Midnight Zone / from 1000 to 4000 meters Murky-black-slimy-floating bumps in the night Schools-of aquatic creatures that you cannot see Creatures-you-can-only feel In the endless depths of the sea In the endless depths of the sea. The “No go” Zone, the Abyss From 4000 meters to the bottom of the Trench The chasms and chambers of the Mariana Trench Challenger Deep, 36,000 feet 1 to 4 degrees (C) Giant worms and fierce-fanged fish and bioluminescent animal-plants Alive since prehistoric times And the molten portals to the centre of the earth And all the fearsome creatures burrowing there… Only in your morbid, overactive imagination Only in your morbid, overactive imagination.

HUMPTY DUMPTY (Marc Fedak) Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall Humpty Dumpty had a great fall All the King’s horses and all of the King’s men Couldn’t put Humpty back together again He knew that the world was a very rough place He tried to be tough and put on a brave face But his fear of heights as he wobbled on the wall Made him lose his balance, roll over and fall Roll over and fall Humpty Dumpty / used to be an egg (Eggman!) Humpty Dumpty / resembled a man Humpty Dumpty / has fallen to pieces Humpty Dumpty / got fried by the sun…. (Chorus) Humpity Dumpity Dumpa-dumpa-dumpa-doo Humpity Dumpity Dumpa-dumpa-dumpa- daow etc.

HOW DID THEY SURVIVE (IN ANCIENT TIMES)? music and lyrics: Marc Fedak For a million years of human history They had to make do without the invention of fire And agriculture didn’t appear until the end of the Ice Age Eleven-thousand seven-hundred years ago And only-after-that came the cities / came the empires / came the deities Came the Pharisees / came the pyramids / came the alphabet Came the ruling class. Before fourteen forty there was no printing press Before the eighteen thirties there was no elec-tricity And cars did not replace the horse until after the Great War And if-you-were hungry and wanted a snack You-could-not-just-run to the corner store No-o TV shows / No-o internet….. How did they survive in ancient ti- i – imes (repeat while 2nd person yells: They didn’t even have flashlights! / They didn’t even have bug spray! They didn’t even have anaesthesia! / They didn’t even have freezers! How could they! / How could they survive? (How did they / survive in / how did they survive in ancient times? X2)

GOLSPIE (Post Punk version) - music and lyrics: Marc Fedak High upon the heathered hill crest wet from the passing clouds Overlooks the Northern Sea and the nearby village. A statue crowns the top of a hill a former Duke of Sutherland I was once there I should know, I saw it with mine o-own Eyes. The locals hated him, a landowner from afar He took their land away they-had-to flee or starve And when he died his lady-made those who remained pay For a statue tall / in his name While their lands enriched / his estate High upon a heathered hill….  He took their land away they-had-to flee or starve And when he died his lady-made those who remained pay For a statue tall / in his name While their lands enriched / his estate High upon a heathered hill….

ALL ABOARD THE ARC! (D. Schenk, M. Fedak) They're forecasting rain of biblical proportions every day next week whole bio-regions will be flooded so I've got to hurry, time is running out collect one healthy specimen of every specie in this region give them food and shelter in my giant arc until the flood waters subside and the land-is-once-again dry. So far, there's Rhino and Dragonfly, Badger and Crab, Hippo and Elk Locust and Sloth, Puma and Dog, Emu and Snake Too-many-more to name… I hope I didn't forget any I hope I have enough supplies I hope they all get along until we see land again and it's safe to leave the arc and start all over again….. (repeat, fading out) Optional part 2 (or perhaps a different song at the end of the EP/album): "Wait a minute, weren't you supposed to bring aboard at least two of every type of animal male and female, so that they can procreate to replace all those who died in the Great Flood?" "Ah, damn, I didn't think of that! I guess my rescue plan wasn't so great after all! All my best efforts have come to naught!" X 2

That’s quite an oversight on my part, isn’t it? All my best efforts have come to naught All my best efforts have come to naught…. PT. 2 (F minor) La-la! La-la! La-la-la La! Etc. FROM SALAMANDER TO FISH (D. Schenk, M. Fedak) I am forgotten, left behind, an outcast from the last album, forlorn The other animals of this domain boarded the arc before the storm The rain that reigned, and heavily rained every day for a decade or more I’m afraid to say I-slept-in-that-day when the neighbourhood flood watch forewarned…. But despite all that I got a good soaking, verily, drenched, a storm At least I got my previously bad thirst quenched, I am not thirsty anymore And I did not suffer, no, I survived by reversing evolution and time A land based amphibian that became a fish no longer in need of air…. Where the sea monkeys live in their tiny white castles Their civilization glows in the bioluminous darkness Darkness ...
